"Of Fluid Birth" conceptually depicts a mother experiencing stress from the reign of an abusive husband, which affects her baby both during and after pregnancy. Using images from a Water Babies magazine, and through their own experience in an unstable household, the creation of this piece was an exploration of something that deeply weighed on Gides.
This piece was featured as part of a video triptych at The Oxbow School's final show for Class OS44. It was also shown throughout the Ann Arbor Art Center's Maternal Interior exhibition in Michigan.
