about

Rhianna Folasade Gides' art practice is best described as an exploration of natural cycles through found objects from various environments, both manmade and elemental. They grew up immersed in nature and in frequent interaction with animals both living and dead, which acts as an inspiration for much of their artwork.

Gides has worked extensively with horses, versed in both groundwork and riding techniques, as well as positive reinforcement conditioning, including consent behaviors. Their works in progress explore a variety of topics such as horse and overall animal anatomy, insect communication, physiological and psychological medical documentation, theology, and morality.

Gides is an undergraduate student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and has worked in the Student Galleries. They have participated in a handful of shows across the U.S. They are currently taking a break to travel and dive deeper into a world of textures and forms rooted throughout nature, as well as pursue an Associate's of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology at Montana State University.

They are currently based in Great Falls, Montana.
